Here’s a look at the tools and gear I actually use in the garage. Everything on this page is something I like and would recommend to a friend.

I do like Eastwood’s automotive gear: it’s good quality and usually well priced. I’d take an Eastwood welder with a 3-year warranty over a 90-day Harbor Freight one any day, and it’s often cheaper too.

My helmet of choice has a large viewing area and true-color lens. Some folks don’t like side-mounted controls, but I find them easier when I’m switching between MIG, TIG, and even plasma.

40 amps is the sweet spot for me. It handles sheet metal easily and cuts up to 3/8″, which covers most restoration work.

I have the older MIG 135. It’s great for sheet metal with .023 wire and handles material up to 1/4″.

Stuff has to go somewhere. MIG on top, plasma on the bottom, everything rolls where I need it.

This makes moving a car around the garage so much easier.
